Containers for Farmers' Market?

For those of you who sell at Farmers' Markets, what do you put your produce in and where do you get it?  I have seen some little cardboard containers and baskets at Farmers' Markets, but I don't know where to purchase things like that and we are going to be selling at our first Farmers' Market on Thursday.  Thanks!

  • I just take canvas bags with me and put the items I buy in those...not sure what you mean about cardboard containers.

  • Sometimes the grocery store produce and meat departments will sell them to you. Ask some of the vendors at your farmer's market about where they get theirs. You may be able to buy some off of them or order from their supplier.

At our farmers' mkt, most of the vendors don't use containers.  They just let you sort through what they have and either pay by the piece (ex. $0.50/ea) or by weight (they bring the scale).  I've seen a few that wash and reuse the plastic clam shell produce boxes that they've gotten from grocery stores, but honestly, i'd rather just buy loose produce.  Then if you don't have a bag, they usually have plastic bags that they're reusing from regular stores.  If you really want something to put your produce in something, you could check Sams/Costco if you have a membership.  They have some stuff that might work.
