Runny nose and majorly fussy....call doctor?

I'm trying not to overreact.  It could be a cold or teething, I'm not sure.  Should I call the doctor or wait it out?

Re: Runny nose and majorly fussy....call doctor?

  • Hard to define majorly fussy. Could very well be a tooth. Don't over react but for sure go with your gut. If nursing and or chewing on something (even your finger) makes her feel better then I would say it is teething.

  • There's not much the dr. will do for either a cold or teething, but if your dr's office has an advice nurse available on Saturdays you can always call just to make yourself feel better. Does she have a fever? Is the snot yellow or greenish? If so, I'd call. If not and the runny nose is clear, it might be teething. Try giving her something to bite on - a teether, cold washcloth, etc. and see if that helps at all. If M is really fussy and I think he is teething and nothing else seems to help, I give him a little tylenol.

  • Ditto the pp.  Do you have any teething tabs?  I generally try those before moving on to Motrin or Tylenol.
  • ditto the pps.  If the snot is clear then I wouldn't worry. Just use your humidifier tonite to try and keep the nose clear.  Might be a growth spurt too. :)
