6 month stats

I meant to post this earlier, but didn't have the time.  We had Finn's 6 month check up today and he is 17 pounds 7 ounces (60th%) . 27 1/2 inches long (83rd%) and his head is 43 1/2 (65%). She had to measure his length twice because he grew so much, she didn't believe it. lol. Tall kid. He sure didn't get that from me.

Anyhow, all is well. He is healthy, happy and doing well. I couldn't believe how many shots they gave him. (3 and an oral..WTF?!!) But he did better with these shots than any of the others so far..So Yay!

Oh, and my pedi didn't say anything about fluoride supplements or fluoride water or anything..weird..I know we were all just talking about that...(Finn is EBF) Maybe because he doesn't have any teeth yet???

  • Perhaps your area puts flouride in the water, some cities still treat water w flouride.  My pedi said my area doesn't and that is why they recommend flouride for developing teeth.   I am skeptical and going to do some reading before I actually decide to fill the prescription.

Glad to hear you have such a healthy  LO.

I was wondering if that was the difference. I know our water is treated with fluoride, because I am a nerd and just read the city water report that they send out annually.  I'm skeptical about fluoride as well. If you find any good links on it, please let me know.

  • I found this website that had some really interesting things to say.  It seems to be especially interesting if you FF, which I don't but I know a lot of mama's do.  It seems like using flouridated water to mix bottles may potentially be harmful to infants developing brains.

my attempt at making that clicky may totally fail bc I don't know if I actually know how so if it doesn't work...

  • Thank you for that. I've heard a lot of negative things about fluoride, which makes me feel very cautious about it. (Even for myself, let alone my DS.) So I appreciate any and all info. for or against the use of it.

Yes  Thanks for the info! A woman I know is a pharmacist and I asked her about it. She said you have to be careful about too much fluoride as well, that it's a very narrow window of risk vs benefit.
