Has anyone else watched this show on TLC? I've heard about it and was just flipping around and came across it. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. Where 8-year olds dress like this at a first communion party.
I kind of hate the fact that everyone is watching that show. Sorry but a life style that promotes gender inequality, illiteracy and having more kids than you can truly afford isn't something I want glorified.

It's their culture - let them be. Your comment is very narrow-minded.
If you don't like it don't watch it. Personally, I like to see what different cultures are up to and how other people live.
There's got to be more to it than the clothes, right?
I'm sad to admit that I had this on as background noise for an entire day. The original culture included traveling, but has since been outlawed. There are other traditions that they keep, but it's dying away. They are desperately trying to keep it alive.

I agree, but I'm not sure ANY "reality" show glorifies anything worthwhile. I only watched it once, but with their thick accents I have a hard time understanding them. I also hate reading subtitles because then I cannot really pay attention to what's happening.

I agree that it is very "interesting." The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that the girls get married at such a young age and have no education and are not treated as equals. But, that is their culture and I guess we have to have respect for them as they should for us.
This show is one of those things you are embarrassed to admit you watch, but can't turn off. I will say, there are lots of things I disagree with about their lifestyle, but I am always interested in learning about how others live. I really enjoy this show when I'm in the mood for some "smut TV" as my DH calls it

I'm watching right now, and I don't get it.

This. I watched it once.
The lifestyle is different than anything I know, that's for sure. Since wikipedia knows everything https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Traveller
I'm on episode 3. I can't stop watching!
This is unreal.
I can't believe how those little girls dance like strippers!
