Rock N Play: For night sleeping or only for naps?

I know lots of the moms on this board love their RNPs.  Are they okay for overnight sleep?  We have a smallish master bedroom (We opted to make the big bedroom into a dual office) so having the pack n play in our room for an extended time would get pretty tight.  I'm thinking the RNP might be a good fit for our room.

What do you think?  What have you done?

Re: Rock N Play: For night sleeping or only for naps?

  • We got a mini PnP for our bedroom and registered for the RnP as I have 2 dogs and liked that I could put Tyler down next to me and not have the dogs reach him. Well thank god we have it because Tyler will not sleep flat on his back! And the RnP has been a godsend. It is approved for sleeping but at this age (10 days old) he only really naps anyway. I did put a receiving blanket folded under the pad for more padding by his head and hope as soon as I can to get him back flat on his back when he sleeping more. A lot of people told me their LO would only sleep in the swing/bouncer/ or carseats so I thought would be safer.

  • Our DD sleeps in it at night. She loves it and I like that it's inclined since she does spit up at times. We have an arms reach co sleeper in our room also, but she much prefers the RnP. We swaddle her and put her in the RnP and she sleeps great. I also love that I can put her right next to me and rock her if she wakes up.

I use it. I have a basset hound so he'd bug her in a carseat, swing, or bouncy. Shes spitty so often needs to be on an incline.

  • after a 1.5 weeks of barely sleeping in crib (15-1hr stretches) I broke down and bought a RnP for our room.  He LOVES it! And the only time he has been waking are when he is hungry, knock on wood. For us it was a great investment! :)
