I had an ultrasound around 14 weeks too because of a problem, but they too just "guessed." But they still seem to be right -- a/s and another look at a fetal echo still say girl!

I'm going at 18 and a half weeks for my anatomy u/s... my drs. office said in 20+ years, around 18 weeks they look for the gender, and they've never been wrong. i'm so excited cause i'm getting super impatient too lol.
During our NT scan, our tech told us that she was 80% sure we were having a boy (and provided us with a picture that we also looked VERY "male"). It was confirmed that we were in fact having a little boy at our anatomy scan at 18 1/2 weeks.
I will find out next week at a little over 20 weeks. My doctor wouldn't schedule another ultrasound earlier than that. He said the longer I wait the more they can see.
We found out at 17w5d at our Anatomy Scan. It was a 100% definitely a boy shot but it was also re-confirmed at 19w5d and again the other day at a 29w3d!

The 3D/4D place that we did an elective u/s at for DD guarantees sex determination anytime after 14 weeks. Each place is different though. After 14 weeks, it is clear what your baby is, it's just a matter of having a really good machine and being able to get a shot of the goods. We ended up going at 15 weeks.

I think people tend to find out too early and you run the risk of them being wrong if it's too soon. There were a few November 2011 Mommies who thought they had a definitive from their NT scan or an early u/s and it turned out later that they were told wrong. I think the best and safest time is during your anatomy scan around 20+ weeks.
ill be exactly 21 weeks when me & dh find out what we are having super excited. my friend who has the same due date as me found out this week she was having a girl and she was only 19 weeks.... only 10 days til we know
I went in for my A/S when I was around 19 weeks. My LO would not cooperate and ended up face down for most of the u/s. I ended up going back a few days later because they needed a better view of the heart and hands. They STILL could not tell the gender then because baby had legs closed too tight. I went back for a third time when I was about 22 weeks and we finally found out we were having a girl and they were able to get a complete view of the heart and hands-thank god!

Re: when is the earliest?
Found out it was a boy a couple of days ago! (16 weeks 3 days)
Will have it confirmed at the 20 week a/s just to be sure, but it looked pretty clear!
In New Zealand they wont tell us till around the 20 wk mark, to be 100%
