Rolling, rolling, roliing....

Ok...night three of my return to newborn "zombie-no-sleep" brain...

My LO is rolling over every night in her crib flat on to her face, then she either cries out (I get up, turn her over, go back to bed) or keeps sleeping with her head flat against the mattress (scares me to death, think she'll suffocate, turn her over, go back to bed)...then about 10 minutes later...it all starts again!!

Someone at work told my DH about sleep positioners but BRU said they don't stock them anymore and I'm assuming this is because they are unsafe??? Have nay of you had this same problem? If so, what did you do?

Please help! I NEED to sleep!!!! Sleep

  • I looked into sleep positioners too, but decided against it based on what I read...here's one example...

Sorry I have no ideas that will help you though :(

  • Thank you...

I just looked up sleep positioners too, and they are an FDA suffocation risk. I guess I just need to hope she'll turn her head out of the mattress and be a tummy sleeper.

  • Instead of rolling her back over why don't you just try turning her head so it is not in the mattress?  It sounds like she like to tummy sleep so maybe if you turn her head and not her whole body she will keep it like that.  I have no other suggestions, sorry.  GL

  • Dear Pajahbear -

I did this today for her naps - I had thought of that but was so apprehensive about her sleeping on her tummy (every baby website, book, magazine scares the crap out of you about SIDs and I read WAY too much!). She slept great! I think I just needed a bit of reassuring encouragement - thank u!

  • I couldn't believe it when my 8 weeker rolled over on his tummy in his sleep. I was sooo nervous and didn't know what to do. I have been helping him keep his head clear during naps now. I watch him roll over and he will now move his head to the side instead of face smushed to the mattress. He has reflux, and while we are adjusting his meds, this is the most comfortable position for him.
