On Wednesday night, I randomly noticed a small bruise under DS' eye. By later in the evening, it wasn't there anymore. I figured that he just bumped his face on something since he's into everything now. Yesterday, DS had blood work done and cried so hard during it that he broke blood vessels in his face. He's been rashy looking since then. DH just called me at work and told me that the "bruise" I noticed the other day is back. So strange. I called the nurse at the pediatricians and she consulted the doctor- he said it's nothing to worry about unless it doesn't go away for 2 weeks or if it gets worse. I just think it's weird that it would be there, go away, and then reappear. Any thoughts on this? It's hard to not worry!
Re: unexplained bruise
Maybe the crying made his face puff up a little? Enough to sort of "overshadow" the bruise?
My DD has had a lot of stomach bug type issues and when she throws up, she ends up with lots of those little broken vessels.. I could see how perhaps there was maybe more fluid in his face or something from crying really hard?

I don't know....when I see bruises on the face, it is to me just like seeing bruises on the knees - that is where they bump a lot. Especially while crawling, dd always had bruises on her face. It was unexplained since I didn't have a specific incidence of her bumping there, but I could explain it in the sense that she probably bumped it crawling, maybe even in the crib when you can't see.
DD had one on her ribs yesterday that at first surprised me. But then I realized it was probably from us being at seabreeze and holding her down the waterslides and stuff since it is right where our fingers would be on her ribs.
Actually, she is bruised a lot - on her butt from sitting down hard on toys in the tub, on her face and knees from falling, on her legs from bumping in to something. But they always go away or get better after a few days. I think that is the best way to look at it, because they can get bruised without even crying if they are still having fun, or without you noticing if they are in the crib. So as long as it heals soon, it should be fine.
