How do you calm down your LO?

LO has been very fussy the last week. If she is awake she wont let me go anywhere without her screaming her head off. I mean I am around her like all day because I live in a one room appartment but apparently that isnt enough for her and she doesnt even want me to go to the bathroom or take a shower. I am pretty much at a point where I dont know what to do about it anymore. And the problem also is that if I leave the room and she starts screaming she just wont calm down anymore. So any tricks how you calm your LO down?

  • i hold her really tight against me, with a light blanket stretched across her tightly, put my cheek to hers and sing hush little baby while walking and bouncing.

  • walking around and bouncing her with her head on my shoulder usually does the trick. Or, in a worst case scenario, I nurse her. She could be screaming for an hour and the second I let her nurse, she calms down. I don't like using that method unless I absolutely have to, though, because obviously I'm the only one that can do that to calm her and I don't want it to become a habit.

  • I take him in to the bathroom and turn the fan on. When I take a shower I bring the RnP in and the combination of the fan and running water zones him out.

Ditto...   if he won't stay still (wiggling his arms and legs around) then I hold him facing outwards and then walk around the house while swaying back and forth.  I just keep walking until he has calmed down.

  • Everything that has already been said.   Plus - running a faucet (if the sound of the water can be heard above the crying, anyway).  If that doesn't work, I downloaded an app onto my phone that has all sorts of sounds to choose from - the rainstorm sound will do it.  I have to turn it up real loud and if he's screaming I even have to hold it next to his ear so he can hear it over himself.  All while bouncing him and walking.

As for the constant crying when I'm not around (like if I want to get a drink of water.. or need to pee...) -- I don't have a solution for that, other than his swing.  And that doesn't always work.  After changing my diet, though, his random fussing/crying has cut down a lot and he actually has quiet/alert times now.

  • When all else fails, I put her in our moby wrap and bounce around the house singing to her. She zones out instantly.

And I always bring her into the bathroom while I am showering, and the sound of the water calms her down.

  • My little ones loves to be on the big exercise ball.  I just bounce up and down and that always does the trick
