Need major T&P's. I had a molar pregnancy...

I am seriously freaking out. I got a message from my dr. on my voicemail late this afternoon the the pathology report came back from my D&C and it's a molar pregnancy. She didn't say much else other than I will need to call tomorrow morning to get an appt. to see the dr to discuss it and get blood drawn.

From what I've read they will want to follow my hcg levels to make sure they go back down to 0 and then monitor me for 6 months after to make sure they stay down. If they don't go down or start rising, you have to have chemotherapy and there is a small risk of it spreading and becoming malignant cancer. Best case scenario, I won't be able to try to get pregnant again for 6-12 months after my levels hit 0.

I feel like I'm in a dream. It just doesn't feel real. I'm scared to death. I was just starting to feel better emotionally and excited about getting to TTC again soon. I just don't know what to do. Please send lots of T&P that my levels go down and stay down. I'm terrified. Thank you

I'm so sorry :-( Good luck with your blood draw, hopefully the levels will stay down and this will all be a distant memory. Try to stay away from Dr. Google. He is not your friend. Maybe your Dr will have some more hopeful news and you won't have to wait that long after all. Big hugs to you!

My little sister just went through this over the last two years and now has a healthy and happy 2-month baby boy. If you'd like me to put you in touch with her, I'm sure she'd be happy to talk with you. My sister did have to take a course of chemotherapy (in pill form) after her numbers didn't drop like they should - but she said she suffered no ill effects.

She found a great support group online and eventually connected in person with two other girls locally that experienced the same thing. All the other girls also went on to successful pregnancies after their molar pregnancies.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this news and uncertainty. I hope that your doctor can ease some of your concerns today. I know it is frustrating and scary and disappointing, but try not to freak out too much and jump to worst case scenarios. Try to think positively that your numbers are going to go down to 0 soon and you'll have a healthy baby in your arms in 2012! Then, just deal with the rest as it comes. I know it's hard, though. I'm praying for you!
