I'll preface by saying that we are taking him in to be seen by his Pedi today. I guess I'm looking more for some "been there done that" advice until then, along the lines of "oh yeah that's totally normal!" or if it's not "Oh holy hell, that terrible freak out now!" :P
So G woke up on Wednesday with a fever that got rapidly worse. I took him in and he saw a NP who said he seemed fine and to just alternate giving him tylenol and motrin every 3 hours. So that's what I've been doing. The tylenol/motrin combo brought the fever down to about 101.5 (from 102.6) but never went away.
Yesterday when I was changing G I noticed he had a lot of mucus in his diapers. Then I noticed a couple small spots of blood. In the early evening he started getting diarrhea. Over the night he had a terrible time sleeping. He was awake from 9-12 and in that time period I had to change his diaper 6 or 7 times. Then he woke up at 4:30 and again more diarrhea. When we got up this morning I went to change him and take his temp (102.7) thinking it was just a pee diaper and when I opened it I found another small spot of blood so I called the doctor and we are going in later today.
So... thoughts? I'm afraid to google so I thought I'd see if anyone else has experienced this. Specifically the blood in the diaper. Oh, also he's not eating as well as he normally does and he spits his water out. The only thing I can get him to drink is Pedialyte and he will also nurse but when he does that it's not really active nursing more like comfort sucking.
I hate seeing him so sick.
Re: Sick LO - Thoughts? (TMI) **Update**
Oh no, poor little guy! I'm afraid I don't have any personal experience w/that so I'm no help. But I think it's definitely worth taking him in over. I hope he feels better soon!!!
ok, well it's a bummer that no one else has experience with this (well not really, I'm glad everyone else has healthy kids!) but it's at least good good to know I'm not over reacting. I saw his diaper with the blood and kind of freaked out. I called the dr asap.
I guess I was just hoping someone would be like "oh, yeah my kid had that, no big deal!" But hearing that you'd be freaked out to is help enough. Hopefully it's nothing serious!
lol, yeah I probably wouldn't want to respond with that either.
Thanks though. I'll definitely keep you all posted.
