BG 4.0 vs Elemental

I was given an amazon gift card specifically for new CD's and I can't make a decision! Should I go for the 4.0's or the Elementals? I love both, but to be honest today is our first full day in CDs so I really don't have enough experience with them to make a decision. Both fit great! I love the versatility of the 4.0s and that I can add liners for more absorbency at night, but I love the convenience of the AIO and it's SO TRIM.

I would love opinions and experiences!! TIA

Re: BG 4.0 vs Elemental

  • If I was given a gift card, I'd definitely use it on a BG elemental.  I love them :)

  • Are you in desperate need of more diapers now?  I'd probably wait a few more days or a week and see how you feel after you've been CDing a little longer.
  • While I don't have personal experience with the Elementals, I have done a lot of research and have heard VERY mixed reviews... at first people seem to like them, but then after 3 months of use or so they are very unsatisfied.

I've never seen such negative reviews on a BG product. For that, I stuck with the 4.0 pockets.

I'd wait until you know what you like.

  • Elemental all the way. If I could do it all over I would have less pockets more elementals. I love them.

  • Our stash is all elementals, but we have 2 4.0's that we stuff with hemp inserts for night time. We LOVE our BGE's. They do take a while to dry, but I've learnt a few tricks to help with dry time. (We can't always line dry as we live in a very rainy climate.)

    tips for faster dry time:

    - do an extra spin cycle at the end of your wash routine, it gets rid of even more extra water and really cuts down on dry time.

    - dry on low heat for about 30 minutes, then flip the diaper in on its self, so the inner layers create a circle around the diaper. (if that makes sense?!) Then continue drying on low heat

    - add a dry fluffy towel to your dryer with the diapers.

The only negative about these diapers that steers some people away is that the organic cotton can get holes, especially around the legs, with continued and regular use. This doesn't alter the function of the diaper at all though.

  • I love love love my Elementals and have been using them for much longer than 3 months. If you have enough pockets for overnight. I'd just get more elementals. I hate pockets btw, just so you know where my opinion is coming from. :)

  • Oh and three words: wool dryer balls. My bge's don't take any longer to dry than my fitteds.
