I called my doctor's office today to get a lab slip to get my HCG level, but they said they won't get blood work done unless something goes wrong. I explained that I've had losses in the past & that seeing my number double would help put my mind at ease... The nurse said she was sorry, but that the doctor said no blood work unless something goes wrong...
I'm pretty bummed about it.
Re: Doctor won't get beta
This.
I took control of my body and my health care after my miscarriage, and I now have a Dr. that I rave about.
Have you spoken directly to your Dr., or just the nurse? Reassert yourself, and if that fails, I'd find a new OB. There is no harm in getting a blood test. It's not like you're asking for medicine or something.

My doctor did the same thing... sorta.
I POAS at home at 10dpo and got a positive... then went to the doctor at 12dpo and their pee test came back negative.
After hearing this news and still convinced that I was pregnant I demanded a blood test... but the doctor would only do a serum test. My comfort was in the fact that the hormones measured in your blood and pee for pregnancy start in the blood... so if I was indeed pregnant and their peetest sucked then the serum test should come back positive - which it did.
From there I just had to have faith that my body and the big Man upstairs were taking the lead...
GL!
Yup. All of this. Especially because of your history, the dr. should at least allow 2 simple beta draws. I'd leave a message for the OB and ask him/her to call you. If the OB won't do it, then I'd start looking for a new office.

I agree with all of the above!
This. PPs are all right on. Sorry if it seems harsh, but its your health (mental and physical) and you need to advocate for yourself.

I am with all the PP. This is YOUR body and YOUR baby. And your baby doesn't do well under stress. Call back and tell them you need to have your beta done so that you are no longer stressing out, which in turn hurts the baby. If they say no, call another dr. and let them know you've had issues in the past, and you are looking for a new OB who is sympathetic to PgAL.
Im so sorry your dr said that. I know how scary it is and how much you want some kind of reassurance that your betas are going in the right direction. I think that you should def find a new OB, but in the meantime, this is what has helped me: I ask myself, " Is there anything i can do that will make my betas go up/down?" And the answer is no. This is completely out of our hands. We can only hope and pray that everything is fine. So try your best to relax and look for a new ob.
