Pregnant after IF

Hospital bag

When did you pack yours? And did you pack just sleepwear other than your going home outfit? Can't decide if I should pack nightgown or top/bottom. I don't usually wear gowns but thought I might need it for checks.

Re: Hospital bag

  • I haven't packed mine yet but I'm going to be packing loungewear instead of sleepwear. Sure, I may not care "as much" what I look like but I don't want to be hanging around in a night gown when I have visitors.

I think I'd better get packing - mine's not ready yet and neither is the one for baby.  I think it's because I can't decide what to bring.

For me, I'll probably bring a nightgown, a bottom/top pj, and a lounge outfit.  You definitely want at least one nightgown because if for some reason you end up with a c-section it is way more comfortable since things around the mid section can be hard (this I know from experience).

Also, be sure to pack nursing bras and socks.  I can't stand the idea of walking barefoot in the hospital room.

  • I packed mine around 34 weeks when I was bored one day, with the exception of things I use daily (those I wrote on a sticky note and it's stuck to my bag).  For my clothes, I packed some nursing tanks, sweatpants, a regular and sleep nursing bra, and a couple tshirts.  I also packed nursing pajamas I got from Old Navy.

  • I started packing mine after my hospital stay 2 weeks ago.  I went in for monitoring and had only my purse and a book and stayed 2 days.  With DD, I was sent to L&D from an OB appt. and had nothing.  Luckily, I didn't deliver her that day, but I never seemed to be prepared.

I would pack at least one gown unless you are OK with the hospital gown.  Last time I used the hospital gown the whole time.  I am a csection gal and you have a catheter and an IV for a few days.  Also, they come often the first day or two to check your uterus and your flow, so I found a gown to be easier.
