Sorry, I don't like either. To me, their both last names. Then boy names. Now girl names and very trendy at that.
Just totally not my style.
I agree as well, I just didn't want to be the first to say it, I feel like I am being mean lately! I am assuming you might shorten Emerson to Emmy and there are so many little Emmy's around and Harper is just getting so trendy and popular. Really though they are just NMS, I prefer distinctly feminine names, there is nothing really wrong or bad about them.
Oh and your due date is my DD's birthday so gl and H&H 9months!
I don't like either. I don't like -son names for girls, and Harper is too trendy for my taste.

We don't know what we are having yet, but we have decided upon two girl names and two boy names. The two girl names we have chosen are Harper Ann-Marie and Emersyn Jade. I guess I'm not too much help for your question. : )
Emerson is not at all feminine to me (I am not a fan of -son names for girls). I probably wouldn't like Harper either, since I am not into unisex surname-type names, but I'm rather fond of it because of the association with Harper Lee.

Agreed. I was looking up name meanings with kids in my class and all the little girls with -son names were disappointed that their names meant son of ...
I like both. My daughters name is Emerson and couldn't picture her named anything else. Two friends of mine have harper's one is a girl one is a boy. I'm not big on girly girly names - I tend to like the stronger names for girls.

I don't care for Emerson as a girl's name. It's a little too harsh-sounding for a girl, to my ear, anyway. I pretty much feel the same way about Harper. I have no idea why it's become so popular. It sounds sharp and percussive to me, and those are not traits I want associated with a girl's name.
I also worry about how long it's going to take someone to nickname a little Harper "Harpy"...just RUDE.

Thanks for all your opinions. I was prepared for a lot of negatives ones : ) DH and I both don't like really girly names, so I guess that's why we like Emerson. I still really like it. I do agree that Harper is beginning to become too popular.

I don't care for either. I like girl names to be girly yet classic and those are just meh and unisex to me.
I love Emily though
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Emerson is a college in Boston, then a boys name.
Harper is adorable, I like it a lot.
This. Word for word.
i would agree.. and Harper remindes me of Steven Harper who is our primeminster and he's a bit of douce... (sorry for the vulgarness)
This!
Also this, but of the 2 I like Harper better.

I think Harper will skyrocket in popularity after Harper Beckham. Neither name is my style, but I know a little girl named Emersyn- cute name!
