I am having a hard time coming up with boy names, and so far Colton is the only name that dh and i have both liked. We've thought about using Duane as a middle name, it is my dad's first name, dh's dads middle and and dh's grandpa's first name. My dad hates his name though, and i'm not sure if he would even want us to use it as a middle name. What would you do in that situation? And what do you think of the name Colton Duane?

Colton is our name if this baby is a boy. It was between that and Nolan but some stuff came up so we can't use it anymore so Colton it is. He can go by Cole if he wants when he gets older. I think it's a cute name
Colton is very country to me, which is NMS. I probably wouldn't use Duane if your dad actually hates it. You could always ask him. Maybe you could use your dad's middle name or just a name that starts with D?
I love it. It was going to be for my child if we had a boy. It will be the name of my son if I ever have one. Not a lot of people like it. But if you love it then use it. Duane is not bad either. I have an uncle with that name. If it means something to you then it makes it even better.
I really like Colton but SO vetoed b/c of aquaintance. I don't like Duane at all but since it's a family name on both sides i understand using it and the combination of the 2 flows fine just not a fan of Duane. Also, I have known 7 Colton's in real life and only one of them is even close to country but he is not a cowboy! I don't see it as country sounding by itself but with Duane it sounds more country I guess.
Re: What do you think of Colton?
Not a fan. It seems sort of psuedo Wild West to me.
Not a fan of Colton Duane. Colton is just okay for me.
I'm not a huge fan of Colton. The nn, Colt, is kind of cutesy.
I don't like Duane at all.
Nickname would be Cole.
What about just naming him Cole? I like that a lot better than Colton.
Ditto.

Why not just use Cole? I like that a lot better. Not a fan of Duane at all.
That said, at least you're not debating Colton for a girl, which I heard recently.
I'm don't love Colton, but I don't have it.
Really like Cole. Agree with PP--could you just go with that?

ETA: Whoops, sorry for the triple post. Must have been the frantic clicking when I realized I typed "have" instead of "hate"
