Strange question for you girls.....

So the other night, DH was grilling and shut the cover on the grill and went inside to get something. In the short time he was inside, the grill caught fire. Long story short we ended up using the fire extinguisher on the grill and fire went out. I looked online and got directions to clean the grill using grease fighting soap and vinegar. DH and I scrubbed this thing all weekend and it looks great. I was all set to use it this week and then I started to panic. I am breast feeding and I am afraid there are chemicals still on the grill that will get into my milk. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a grill/oven fire and used the equipment after. Also, my brother is a fireman in another city and he says it's ok to use, but he is also much more lax about parenting and just about everything else....TIA

  • I'm sure it's fine. If you're worried turn the grill on HI for 15-20 min and it will burn of anything that is left on there.

This. The heat will burn off any lasting chemicals. Also just to be causious you can wrap the grate in aluminum foil.
