Pregnant after a Loss

WTF is wrong with my body :-(

Last night, I had contractions again at 7pm.  Although not strong but 2-3 minutes apart.  I could not breath through them properly so I had shortness of breath for about 3 hrs.  When I could not sleep, I called the emergency # and the doctor asked me to come to L&D (this is my 3rd visit to L&D this week).  I got there and they gave me meds to relax my uterus and at 2:30am sent me home when my contractions slowed down to 4/hr.  The doctor did not give me a reason why this is happening. He was very short and quick.  I am still having about 4 contractions/hr and very confused and stressed.  I wish someone could give me an explanation of what is going on.  I have slept for 2 hrs and at work and in tears.  This week really sucks.

Maybe you should go home and lay down. Keep drinking as much water as you can choke down... don't be afraid to call that Dr. back!

I am drinking a lot of water maybe like 3-4 gallons a day.  My job is pretty flexible and I can work from home, but I was having panic attacks so decided to come here to be a little distracted.  I am calling my ob as soon as their office opens in few minutes.  thank you for the hugs, I really need them today.

The contractions are uncomfortable (like mild period cramps) but not painful. They were just so frequent that I literally could not breath for 3 hrs last night.  I will probably call my ob and go home for half of my day.

  • ((HUGS)) I have had an irritated uterus most of my pregnancy and would get contractions all the time.  Mine were not painful though mostly just really strong consistent BH.  Doctor told me unless they hurt like hell not to bother coming in.  Keep your chin up go home and rest and drink lots of fluids!!!!

Definitely take it easy and push lots and lots and lots of fluids.

I know I have a lot of strong ctx (real, not BH) when the baby gets into a strange position so I try and change positions while I'm laying to get the baby to move.

  • I called my ob's office and apparently there is no doctors working today......WTF is that.  They told me to go to L&D again.  I am at the same point where I was last night when they sent me home, so I don't see a point of going back to L&D.  They are going to probably monitor me again and send me home after 4hrs.  Plus my baby doesn't like the doppler and contraction device hooked to my body.  He goes crazy when they attach me to all that stuff.  Would you go?

I vote with Kathy on this one.  If that was the on-call Dr and not your regular Dr., I would call your regular Dr. asap this morning and see if you can be seen (or at least have a quick visit or consult withhim to make sure there is a plan in place for you!).

  • Oh D&D I'm so sorry.

Try your best to relax (although I know its pretty impossible).

Also, don't for a second hesitate calling a different doctor, even if its a new one, or going straight into the hospital for help.

Yeah, I find it rediculous that there are no doctors in the office today.  My regular ob is actually in L&D.  At this point, I think I am going to do what I think is right for me.  I am continue to chug water and have been monitoring my contractions.  If things don't settle down, I will walk into L&D and see if I can talk to the doctor without them hooking me up to the machines.  I doubt they will allow this.

After dealing with a whole lot of crap with this ob office, I made an appointment with a different office to get a second opinion.  After all the L&D visit's, I found that every doctor has a little different way of approaching at things.  I have an appointment with this new office on monday and I will see what they say.

  • ((Hugs)) I am so sorry you're dealing with this. It's not fair that you should be going through this stress. Can you leave early and get some rest? Keep drinking a lot of water (my doctor said 3 liters a day). I would call your doctor and ask for some explanation of why this is happening and what you can do to stop the contractions. I hope they stop soon and you're able to relax a little.

Ack - I thought I had replied to this but apparently it didn't go through earlier.  Oops.  Maybe in my trying to shorten up the quote-chain, I accidentally committed some sort of editing faux pas and it didn't go through.

Anyway... I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're able to get in for a second opinion at a different OB office, and with only a few days notice - that's great!  If you end up going into L&D again this weekend, I hope at least you can talk with a different doctor who's able to give you some more information or at least not be so quick as the other one.

I'm hoping that things settle down for you and you have a relaxing, contraction-free weekend!  Keep chugging that H20 and keep us posted.  I'll be thinking of you!!
