So I'm gonna take DS to the pool for the first time tomorrow, but I was wondering if I need to get him some of the little swimmers or if I should just keep him in a regular diaper. My friend said she just uses regular diapers for her DD. What are your recommendations? Oh and any recommendations for baby suntan lotion?? Thanks mommas!

not sure if you're going out before tomorrows swim, but we found baby baithing suits at target. They are designed to hold in pee and poop without blowing up or leaking. They are machine washable and reusable (cloth). We also have lil swimmers, but they are still a bit big. We used regular diapers, but like pps, we found they blew up, weighed down and got messy for LO and for the pool- that gel gets everywhere!
Our pedi said no sunscreen for awhile and no sunblock until 6 mos (he said basically just cover him up and stay in the shade- we can use block next year)
I've used the huggies lil snugglers and didn't have any problems. I have no idea what the gel is...never seen it.
We bought a cloth swim diaper to use when we take DD swimming.
No recommendations on the sunblock, our dr said no sunblock till 6 months.

We use the little swimmers too. We mainly keep him in the shade but if I have to use sunblock, I use Neutragena Pure and Free. I'd rather have something on than nothing if avoiding the sun is completely impossible.
The gel typically will eventually explode out of the regular diaper. It'll hold a solid amount of water but eventually it gives in!

kinda late but ..
I bought my LO a swim diaper (kushies?) . We change right before going into the water.
It's pretty thin and does not absorb any water. It is made only to keep poop out of the water so you can't travel with it on. I got it in a medium thinking she can grow into it but it fit well as there is elastic around the legs to make sure she doesn't leak.
I just use a regular diaper since the swimmers don't fit yet. Pedi said to avoid the sunblock unless we are going to be around water or white sand since it reflects, so we use Neutrogena Free & Pure and he gets a good bath right after to wash off the sunblock.
