37 week appointment = spent the afternoon in L&D :-/

My BP at the my routine office visit this morning was 144/100, and it wouldn't go down :-/ I had protein in my urine as well, so my doc was concerned and sent me to L&D. On my way out one of the nurses was like "ooooh, maybe you'll have your baby today!" and freaked the hell out of me.

But, baby looked great on the monitor, my BP dropped back down to a good level, and the amount of protein in my urine is not concerning (they said it's a 1, and they don't worry until it gets to be a 3). All GREAT news.

If I develop pre-e, that pretty much means straight to c/s, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I knew a VBAC was important to me, but I didn't realize how important until I dissolved into tears at the thought of having a c/s TODAY. I'm just not ready yet (DD might be getting there though, as of my internal this morning I was 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced - which is a.ma.zing. seeing as how I never made any progress at ALL with DS).

Anyway, I'm on bed rest until my next appointment on Wed. They're fine if I go into labor on my own between now and then, they just don't want me doing things to elevate my BP. And I am on strict instructions to stay OUT of the heat.

All in all, great outcome for what seemed like it could have been really scary.

Glad that you are all ok. Stick to that bed rest! I know it's hard but just think of how important it is to you and that baby!

I hope everything turns out okay. However even if you do develop pre-eclampsia it does not automatically mean you would have to have a c-section. My best-friend gave birth vaginally to her son at 37 weeks due to pre-eclampsia.

For me it does. I'm trying to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after a c/s) and my hospital's policy is to not induce labor for VBACs.

scary, I'm glad everything is ok! I had high bp like that also and same thing sort of happened to me. BP went back down and more so when I would lie on my side though I don't think I had any protein in my urine. I hope you get your vbac though!!
