Getting 2 in and out of the car

I posted this on 12 - 24 - my DD locked herself and her brother in a running car yesterday. Many of the moms had good suggestions for getting 2 in and out.

    Interesting...  It is definitely a challenge!  But seems like I'm rarely out someplace by myself where I've had both of them and need to get them into a hot car.  When we pickup from daycare, the car is already cool, so I don't need to have it running.

    Now, DS gets into his seat like you did and I strap DD in and then go back around. I leave the doors open to my minivan until I get in the car and close them with my buttons up front. he is good about sitting in his seat while I get DD in. BUT when he was younger I would get him to climb up or lift him with one arm while holding DD, then I could slowly buckle him with one hand while leaning in and sort of using my other hand a bit...while its wrapped around DD as well. If that makes sense. I also used the ergo carrier sometimes and that allowed me to use two hands.

    I also used to back up into my driveway so DD's carseat was closest to my lawn, I would get her in while DS hang out on the lawn picking grass, rocks etc and watch him while I buckled her, then got him in other side.
