Bye bye breastfeeding!

This morning was the last time I nursed my baby girl.  She is exactly  4 months old today, and I thought I would quit nuursing at 3 months, but it was still going well.  A couple of weeks ago we introduced a new formula which is working WONDERS (Enfamil Nutramigen), and she even seems happier with that than with breastmilk.  She just always seemed super agitated whenever she nursed, and she always seemed like she wanted to eat every hour.  The formula seems to fill her up more, and now she hardly even cries!!!  A happy baby equals an EXTREMELY happy mommy and when I was done nursing her, I went for a walk and got a HUGE cup of coffee to celebrate--lol.

We have been slowly weaning her by introducing more and  more bottles during the day so I feel confident she is ready for the change.  I sure am!

  • You are right about that - happy baby = happy momma and a happy momma = a happy baby! Congrats on going past your goal of 3 months, that's great.
  • Glad you found something that works and makes everyone happy :)
  • Congrats! Enjoy the caffeine. I am shocked at how much I miss coffee. I did not drink it that often before I was pregnant, but when I finish breastfeeding I am so going to hit up a starbucks :)
  • You did great. I planned on nursing DS until 3 months (supplementing with formula), then just formula, but we're still going with BM. I feel like every day I pump or nurse is just bonus now.

  • Yay for surpassing your goal!

DS was a cranky bfer too. We are so much more content with bottles!

  • Congrats!  Thank you for this post...we are in the process of weaning and we hit our 3 month goal and will be introducing formula this weekend.  She has always been a fussy nurser and never stayed satisfied for long.  I have been feeling guilty about it, but I know she eats so much better from a bottle and it was always upsetting/frustrating when she didn't seem content with nursing.  I don't feel as bad to know there are others in a similar boat.  Now I feel guilty though because I have an iced coffee every morning!!
