We took our then 12 month old to Discovery Museum. It was nice, but fairly small compared to what we were expecting. The big kids kept knocking her over since there isn't a lot of "running" room. There is a crane/pulley area, design your own race track area, Native American playroom, several tables for blocks, a small climbing wall. and a few other rooms.
I would say that if you have nothing to do, it's a nice drive out there and back (naptime was in the car). But I don't know that you could make a day of the Discovery Museum alone.
we've been to dinosaurland twice. it's a hilariously good time. you have to understand that the dinosaurs look like gigantic paper mache dinosaurs. it's really shaded so there is little to worry about with the sun. i have to say DS absolutely loved it both times we went. he could run around and just play. for under $20 it's great!
