  I always find really nice ones at Marshalls/TJMaxx. I still pay $20 but get one that retailed at twice that.

  Also, if you're wearing brown, a pink, blue, or lilac dress would look lovely IMO.

  ON has some very cute sweater dresses.  I'm getting DD one for Christmas.  They have red and white. Here's the 2 I've been looking at:

  

  

  ETA: The smallest size they come in is 6-12, but I have found that ON stuff runs small on DD so they might still work for your DD.

  I would definitely take advantage to dress her up. ?If you are wearing brown and want something that would look nice.. Gymboree has a really cute brown and pink sweater dress on their site right now.
