I called the pedi and she recommended letting her CIO with no Ferber interruptions. I'm not sure if I can do it, but I am going to try. I'm exhausted, so I just have to stay strong and hope it works quickly. Either way, I have to let her soothe herself.
Please send me your strength, wishes, prayers, whatever!!! I NEED ALL I CAN GET!
Re: Alright, I'm giving in to CIO/Ferber
I'm so torn on CIO!! Some days, I feel like we should give it a shot. Then other days I read up on it, and the bad outweighs the good, and I chicken out. The biggest thing for me is that Auds still eats a ton during the night. She nurses twice, and gets a 5 oz bottle from DH. So if I let her CIO, she would be missing out on 10-15 oz of food. We try to feed her a lot during the day, but it's not like I can force the milk down her throat.
If your pedi recommended it, I'd go for it. Good luck! I'll be really interested to hear how it goes.
All the strength to ya! You can do it, it works. It starts out hard but it gets better with the days. Our LO will now fall asleep on his own within 10-20 min and we have been doing this for a week.
Good Luck -- heres to hoping you get some sleep!
yes, this! i know i'm no good when i haven't slept, good luck!
Your baby has the cutest little glasses ever!!!
I started last night. DD has been waking up 5-6 times a night for the last few weeks, and I am just worn down. We've never had a problem with her going down, just staying a sleep.
Last night we put her down at 8:00pm (which is a half hour later than normal per the ferber book recommendation)
8:45 - woke up. Checked her at following intervals: 3 min, 5 min, 7 min and then she fell asleep at 7 mins (right before I was going to go in).
10:15 - woke up. checked her at the following intervals: 3 min, 5 min, and then she fell asleep at 4 mins
4:15 - woke up. Checked on her at the following intervals: 3 min, 5 min, 7 min, and then she fell asleep at 6 mins. When I went in at 3mins her diaper was really wet so I changed her diaper. While changing the diaper I noticed her feet were cold so I put some socks on her feet before I put her jammies back on.
It was hard to listen to her cry, but overall waking up 3 times was a HUGE improvement for us. Hopefully we'll continue to improve tonight.

Did you read Ferber's book? Do that before you do anything. The thing about CIO is that you have to be consistent. It's not fair to the baby to let her cry for an hour, then pick her up, then not do it the next night, then try again in a few days. She won't learn anything...she'll just get confused. I think if you're going to do it, you have to commit to seeing it through for a few days and gauging whether there's any improvement.
we did Ferber around 6-7 months with DD1 and it worked perfectly.
We're going to try Ferber, but I don't know if it'll work for A. Usually when I go back in to try soothing him, he cries harder when I leave. I'm not going to try for another few weeks (we have a lot going on and I can't handle sleep training in addition to everything else).
Good luck!
Have you tried Ferber? You definitely need to read the book to fully understand the process. We've gone from several wakings (seriously 3-4 times) during the night where we had to feed her to get her to sleep to sleeping through the night. She woke up once last night and I went in for a minute to let her know she was okay and walked away, fully prepared to have to go in again and she fell asleep with in a minute of me leaving. I was shocked when the pedi recommended it to us, but I am so glad that she did.
Good luck. You can do it and it will be SO worth it when you can get some sleep, too.
Did you feed her at any/all of these wakings? Your DD's sleep habits sound like ours, so I'm curious.
