Homemade Cheese

Has anyone made their own cheese?  I'm talking beyond the basic kind you can make with just lemon juice.  I love cheese and I was really excited to make it but now it seems like I have to order a lot of supplies to get started.  Has anyone had experience with this?

  • i make queso fresco which is basically ricotta with more whey squeezed out. It's not rocket science, and all i use are 2% milk, white vinegar (you could use lemon juice) and some salt. Depending on what i want to use it for, i drain it and leave it like ricotta, or i take the cheesecloth and really wring it out to make a more solid cheese to use on pizza or in salad.

I make mozzarella and ricotta using the recipes from Ricki the Cheese Queen :)

  • Thanks ladies!

That site looks great but their Canadian shipping options are not so great.  I'm going to have to think about that.
