Cause it's driving me insane. Every diaper change or clothes change B rolls over onto his hands and knees and starts trying to mess with the blinds, the drapes, the wipes box, etc.
I have tried giving him something to keep his attention. He's totally indifferent to toys - they're much less interesting than trying to rip the blinds off the wall. The only thing that keeps his attention for more than 30 seconds is his comb. So I'm using that a lot, but it's not foolproof.
When he does roll over, I calmly put him back into position, which results in him crying/having a tantrum. I talk to him, tell him that, well, the more he rolls over the longer the process takes (I don't know if he understands but it makes me feel better to talk), continue to try and redirect, etc.
Any tips or tricks?
Re: Rolling over during diaper/clothing changes - how are you handling this?
We use this:
https://www.amazon.com/Infantino-Crib-Companion-Soother-Lullabuddy/dp/B003I86820/ref=sr_1_15?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1311272138&sr=1-15
It says lullaby, but it's so loud and bright, that she hated it when she was a newborn (it's not soothing, I don't know why they market it like that). But she freaking loves it now! When she starts to roll over, I put my hand on her belly to stop her, tell her no, then give her the lamb and start it to singing. And I sing along. It plays farmer in the dell, rock a bye baby, old mac donald and mary had a little lamb.
It works for us. Good luck!
ooohhh - that's way better than duct tape - it's really hard to get all that tape residue off.
Cooper loves remote controls so I took the batteries out of one we don't use and give it to him. He's perfectly content with that. If you're having a hard time keeping him away from blinds and cords, maybe you should move the changing table, or change him on the floor.

you girls are so smart. i've been just letting her run around without a diaper. i mean, what's a little pee and poop among family?
I do the same thing with the dogs. It's how I process anger/frustration with non-verbal creatures when I shouldn't get visibly upset with them. Own a PWD and you get a lot of practice at it to the point it becomes second nature.
Scout works for about 15 seconds. We've also got this duck that sings the ABCs that lasts about 30. But he can play with those elsewhere as well. Maybe I need to find a toy that he loooooooves and then only use it on the changing table (yet another dog training trick. go figure).

You too? That's the only thing E is interested in after bath time. If I let him hold the lotion bottle, he lets me lotion him up!
But yeah, if anyone figures it out, let me know! Changing my child is becoming more like an Olympic event!
This. I use diapers and sometimes an empty Mylecon bottle (he chews on the plastic part). That and I just change him as fast as I can!
Elbow (non) grease. Which means after I get him back down I use my elbow/arm on his chest to hold him in place. Luckily he still hates being on his belly so he'd never roll all the way over willingly.
We also try the toy trick. Our changing table toy is one of those pee-holder tent things that people think will keep little boys from peeing everywhere.
BFP #2 5/27/12. EDD 2/1/13. m/c and D&C 6/21/12.
I usually give him a small toy or the tub of vaseline. Sometimes I just let him roll, though.
Of course the diaper changes take longer, but I have to listen to less screaming.
