Focus group for Fed moms

Any other Fed mom participate in a focus group today?  I'm being deliberately mysterious, as this is a public board.  If you were on the call, you'll know what I'm talking about.

PM me, other Fed moms, if you know what I'm talking about!

Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.

  • It was a telecon re: lactation programs at federal agencies sponsored by O to the P to the M.  Others on the call seemed to have very modern policies at their agencies, as opposed to my agency - which - well, since this is a public board, I'll say there is basically no formal policy, much less a "program."

Just thought maybe by coincidence there may have been a fellow Nestie on the call.  I'm all fired up now and I'm going to follow up with certain folks in my agency.

  • I'm a Fed soon to be mom.  I was not on the call.  I don't know if we have any formal program at my office.  Most of us have offices with doors and I think they will install a lock on our door so we can pump in our offices.

A friend works at the VA and had horrible issues with having to schlepp to some room way across the building and having very limited time/having to use leave to pump.

  • I work in an historic building, so almost everyone works in cubicles (including GS-15's like my boss who you would think would be entitled to an office and a door!).  I think the most clear thing was that programs vary widely from agency to agency - there are haves and have-nots - which is so not fair - it should be at least somewhat consistent.

  • I work at the Hoffman Building in Alexandria with an Army program and my boss was straight up like we DO NOT have to accomodate any mother who wants to PUMP. lovely... it was then I decided that prior to my next kid I'll be finding a new job.

some poor CTR was left to pump in the bathroom...I printed out the law and it's guidelines and taped them to the counter where she pumped hoping she'd bring it to her boss. I always knew when she was pumping because I'd hear her desk chair rolling down the hallway into the ladies room.

I know at the Pentagon they have pumping rooms...here, not so much.
