SIL VENT!!!

GRRRRR....

Okay, back story: My SIL kind of controls the family. She has, in the past, cut the family off from her for a few months or so because they told her they disagreed with a choice she made. So now no one will tell her they think she is wrong. Example: She wore jeans to my wedding. JEANS! because she was uncomfortable in the dress she packed- and no one would tell her to suck it up!!

Another case in point, her boyfriend that she lived with for 3 years cheated on her, taped it himself doing this other girl, hid the tape in their bedroom closet and she found it. She was crushed, but three weeks later he swore he would never do it again so she took him back. Now the family isn't allowed to say "What the he!! are you thinking???" Nope, even DH looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked why no one would say anything to her. All he said was "It's her life, there is nothing we can do."

And...now she's marrying this guy!

Yep, everyone made a big deal when we went and asked FIL 'permission'. And we all had to tiptoe around for a week like we didn't know what was going on. But my MIL was about to BURST!!! it's her only daughter and even though she is marrying a d-bag, we are all supposed to act like we are super excited!! Ick!

So cut to the wedding planning. She didn't ask my DH or her other brother to be in the wedding(both of them had her) and chose only her friends, but now she wants to have a huge bechelor/beachelorette party and is asking everyone to pitch in $50 to cover cost.

Ugggg...don't get me wrong, I get it, it's not my life, she can do whatever the heck she wants in her f-ed up life. But I am sick of pretending it's all okay! Sick of acting excited! Sick of hearing about this messed up, a$$ backwards wedding!!! and I am so sick of my DH, who is usually very stong when it comes to right/wrong, look like a kicked kitten trying to please her!!!! It's her life, I can't control it, but I don't have to support it and the fact that they all do makes me want to scream!!!!!

    I know how frustrating it is to know someone is being stupid but can't do anything to stop them. The worst part is when it all blows up in her face you and the family are going to have to pick up the pieces. Case in point my best friend got married in March to a man that not only me but all of our friends told her not to marry. They dated for 4 years dispite us saying he was no good. Well they got married and by June he decided he was leaving her for another girl that he had been having an affair with since October. That's right they were not even married 3 months and already getting divorced. So much for the $15,000 spent on the wedding. Now I have to help wipe away her tears and fill out divorce paper work which is a major PITA

    It really sucks when people can't be helped and all you can do is fake a smile.
    That is really messed up she didn't put her own brothers in her wedding. I probably wouldn't go to her party.

    Especially at 50 a piece..holy cow.

    That is really messed up she didn't put her own brothers in her wedding. I probably wouldn't go to her party.

    Ugh, this!  At least she isn't 19 without a high school diploma telling DH he doesn't put family first because he chose to pay our rent/bills instead of bailing his 60yo mother out of jail.

    Why is this SSOOO true?!?!  Totally agree though.  I think I would ditch out on the party...
