Pregnant after IF

leg cramps

anyone experience these? Last night DH and I went to the local fair and walked around a lot. I was exhausted by the time I got home.  In the middle of the night I went to roll over and I suddenly got the worse cramp in my calf ever. It even made my eyes watery because it was so painful. I couldnt move my leg for at least 5 minutes.  I had to get up slowly and try to walk it off. Eventually it went away but I woke up this morning and that leg was sore. I wonder if I pulled something from walking so much and carrying all this extra weight. My feet have been swollen for well over a week now so I know my poor feet are suffering.

anyone else? I wonder if this is common.

Re: leg cramps

  • Yes!! I've gotten them a few times recently and the other night it was SOOOO bad I woke up pretty much screaming and now my calf still hurts.

It is common. They say to lie on your left side, stay hydrated, don't sit or stand for long periods of time.

I got mine when I was laying on my back.

    Hope this helps!

  • I've been getting them constantly. I find eating potassium helps a lot. Grab yourself a few bananas and see if that help ya!
  • Yep, those used to happen to me all the time. I had to either lay in bed while stretching my toes to the ceiling, or stand up on my tiptoes to get them to stop.  The next day I would feel really sore.  Potassium helps keep them away!

  • drink water so you arent dehydrated.

Another thing is when you stretch your legs in the morning, instead of pointing your toes forward, flex them in an upwards position, this should help eliminate the calf muscle cramping.

I dont personally get them but my friend who is a few weeks ahead of me does and she started eating more things with potassium and magnesium and has increased her water and gatorade and said it made a huge difference.

  • I learned in birthing class with Brady that if you flex your foot during a cramp it helps a lot. For me, it stops it in its tracks. Good luck! They hurt so bad.
