if you have a boy, do you wipe when diaper only has pee in it?

I guess this could apply to either sex actually.  So anyways do you use a wipe if diaper is only wet and no poo or just take diaper off and put new on one?

  • When DD only has a wet diaper I just pat her dry with a dry cloth wipe.  My pedi actually recommend that's what we do, she said the pee is sterile and if we wipe her every single time it could irritate her skin and cause a rash.

  • I have almost always wiped them both each time except with DD at night if she's only wet but I'll wipe for her next dipe if it's just wet. So I wouldn't go two wet dipes in a row w/out wiping. With DS sometimes if I'm in a rush or don't have wipes easily accessible I'll skip it.

  • I do. Why have him smell like pee?

I've never smelled a baby that smelled like pee unless they had a diaper on too long...

  • I wipe most of the time but will let some pee dipes go unwiped without a problem unless he looks wet

  • I wipe every diaper change. We use cloth wipes with warm water, and it's honestly his favorite thing in the world. When he's having a freak out, we strip him down and put a warm cloth on his boy parts and he is instantly calm. Haha.

  • Nope.  I wipe every couple of changes because sometimes he has poo on him bum but none in the diaper.  Other than that I don't and we haven't had any issues with diaper rash or anything.

  • Unless he's got poop in the diaper we don't use wipes. We did the same thing with G and never had any problems.

Edited for clarity: Poop in the diaper or on him that didn't make it all the way to the diaper. I don't let my kiddo sit in poop!

  • We don't have a boy, but we never wipe if its just pee. It was actually a suggestion from my mom and I trust her opinion. DD doesn't seem to have any problems with it.

  • I wipe every few changes, but if I'm in a hurry or he's really not happy for some reason, I definitely skip it. I don't at night because I don't want the extra stimulation, but he still needs a new diaper.

  • Since we CD I don't see it neccessary if it is only a wet diaper. However, DS almost always has a wet fart so he usually get a little wipe.

If I was using disposables I probablly would just because of the chemicals in sposies.

  • I've never wiped her when it's just pee, and haven't had any problems? I think the chemicals in the wipes may be more harsh than the diapers, so I try to give her bum a break (poor child poops probably 8x+ per day still, so she gets lots of wiping!)

  • Yes I clean my boys up after they wet a diaper because from my experience when I havent they are more apt to develop a rash.  Especially after DS1 had a yeast rash last summer and the doctor said it was probly because I laxed in wiping after he peed.  It was a nasty rash and took forever to clear up.

  • Don't you wipe every time you pee?!?!  I have NEVER heard of this before nor the crap about the chemicals in wipes... SERIOUSLY?? I wouldn't take a chance not to wipe just because... Yes, pee is sterile, but only when it comes out. If it sits in a diaper, then I wouldn't consider it sterile anymore. I wipe my boys every single time and have yet to see any irritation or rash yet!!

  • I wipe DS down with a wet cotton ball (dipped in water) every change.  If it's an especially poopy diaper, first I'll use a wipe to get all of the poop off, and then I'll follow up with the wet cotton ball.  This way, everything's all rinsed off of him - poop, pee, and wipe residue.  No diaper rash issues.  This is what my mom did for me when I was a baby too.
