Two Under 2

baby monitor for two rooms?

So DS is going to be 3 a few weeks before this one comes. We are having issues with the monitor we have now and were going to get a new one then thought perhaps we should do research on some others. We would still like one in DSs room for a while. He just switched to a big boy bed and want to keep an eye/ear on him.

There really are no two room (two bases) monitors out there but the video monitors can do this. One thing I read is that when it goes to sleep at night (the monitor that we'd have in our room) so the screen isn't on all the time, it only does the audio from the last room it was on (can't remember which one I read this about).  I don't want to leave a video up on the parental unit all night so I can hear them both as I'm told that's also really bright.

I want to be able to hear into both rooms at all times, even rotating between rooms every 30-90 sec. is fine, but not just one.

My brother has twins and just had to buy two different sets of monitors as two of the same will interfere. if we have to do this, that's fine. But as we are getting ready to buy a new one, might as well buy one that does both rooms if I can find it.

Do any of you have any of the video and audio monitors with cameras in two rooms that you are happy with?

Re: baby monitor for two rooms?

  • I haven't had a full blown experience with this yet but I have set them both up to trouble shoot one and I know they work. We have the Summer Infant day and night delux with now two cameras and two handheld monitors. You really only need one hand held monitor as you can toggle back and forth. I dont really use the volume for DD I just like to see what she is doing so I leave one upstairs and one down so I don't have to go looking for it. That being said, if you really wanted to listen to both all night you could keep both monitors by your bed with one set to channel A and the other to B. They don't interfere but again it is nice they are the same as they work together.

  • I have the lorex brand monitors- it has two cameras, one hand held that i keep next to my bed on the charger at night. I turn the monitor away from me, so that it isnt so bright. Then if I hear one of them, I just turn it around so I can see what they are doing. It scans the two rooms every 8 seconds. I dont have any complaints! Currently my littlest baby is still in my room, but I have used it when they have both been napping....
