So, I have no idea how early or late to have my shower. I will go nuts if we wait too long and I don't have our baby things, but I lost my baby at 28 weeks last time and feel torn about having an early shower. I want to do the gender reveal at the shower (that way I still get gender nutral gifts, but get to find out the gender).
We should know by September the sex of the baby. I don't want to keep the secret for too long so I was thinking a shower in late October or November (I'm due mid February). I would be 24 to 28 weeks. Is that too early? I don't want one in December because it is hard with the Christmas holiday. Then I would have to wait until January (I would be 34 weeks the first week of January). I feel like that is too late. What would you do?
TIA!
Re: Baby shower timing? WWYD?
See, that is the problem! I will be 30-34 weeks in December. I think planning a shower then will make it so many people could not attend because of family Christmas get-togethers.

The first weekend in December might work, but I am still not wanting to have it in December. I don't want to sound selfish, but I know that once Decmber hits my budget is super tight and I don't have money for shower gifts because all my money is going to Christmas and birthday gifts (we have 7 family birthdays in December). I don't want people feeling like they have to break the bank for my shower.
True. I didn't even think about that. Thanks for your help.
While I agree with Rachael normally, for you the Christmas thing is a valid concern, not only will people not be able to come because they're busy, they won't want to come to another gift-giving event when they're already buying Christmas stuff. Not that you are trying to schedule for optimum gift-getting, but it would be easier on your guests not to have it right in the middle of the busy holiday season.
If you don't have to travel, I'd push it to January. Our wedding was on Jan. 8th and I thought it might be too much being 2 weeks after Christmas and 1 week after New Year's but it was actually a great time of year, people were still in the party spirit after the holidays, it was like one last hurrah, we had a huge turnout, almost everyone we invited came and had a great time.

I will be having my first shower at 25 weeks, but that is only because my mom wants to have the shower on Columbus Day weekend so her best friend can be there. I am not comfortable doing it that early, but it's important to her. My preference would be to wait until 30 - 34 weeks.
