2nd Trimester

anyone have dizzy spells?

I haven't gotten them a lot, but I never had any w/ DD, so I'm not liking it too much.  My dr said it's nothing to worry about, but it's makes it tough to function when you can't stand/sit upright w/o feeling like you're going to pass out.  It's not so bad @ home because I can lay down & take it easy, but when I have it @ work it's kind of a problem.  I hoping I feel better soon today so I can get back on track.

Re: anyone have dizzy spells?

  • Yes, I have had this happen a few times.  One day I had to leave work early it was so bad.  Since then, I can sort of feel it coming on.  I try to quickly grab my phone, some water and something small to eat and sit or lay down right away.  I typically notice that once I get some water and food in me and rest for a minute, I am ok.

  • Yes.. I have definitely had them.  I never had them with DS but I have them all the time now.  Not as badly as I did in the first trimester but I still have them from time to time. My OB just advised me to try to drink enough fluids and maybe stick to something like orange juice or gatoraid.  I don't really like either so I've not been the best at sticking to that but I try.

  • Yes!!  I talked to my Dr about it when I saw him yesterday and he said to make sure I'm getting protein rich meals and eating small frequent meals throughout the day.  He also said that when I feel like that to do deep breathing exercises.

perhaps protein is my issue, especially in the morning I don't eat a lot of it.  In general, we do more carbs & veggies than protein.  I had attempted to make bacon this morning, but burnt it trying to get other things done @ the same time.  Oops!  That'll teach me. LOL

  • Yep, I get dizzy spells frequently since my 2nd trimester started.  Eating usually helps.  Though I have one right now, and eating has done nothing yet.  It will pass though.

  • I feel like I get them all the time now, when I get up out of my bed, chair, walking up the stairs. Makes me feel even more tired

  • Yes! It seems to be happening more frequently now. Try to take a minute to close your eyes and refocus.

  • I am. I am afraid it's GD and I am slacking on making my appointment. I actually just got the order this week but still. I have been very dizzy after I eat and feel like I am going to pass out. I hope that it's not GD but if not I am not sure what it is. It is a constant thing too. When I get up too fast I see stars!

  • I have been getting them often as well.  I get two different kinds though quick dizzy spells and then dizzy spells with more symptoms.  My Dr said to eat more protein and that will help with dizzy spells and the other is caused by complex migraines (I already had migraines before pregnancy ? they are just changing).  Good luck I hope you feel better :D

My doctor said my dizziness is most likely related to LOW blood pressure so I think it's unlikely that it's a sign of GD.  Do the test and you'll probably find out you're in the clear.  :)
