TMI...UTI symptoms that go away and then come back??? help???

I have had this horrible feeling like a UTI 5 or 6 times since I have been pregnant...I will have the symptoms ie: urgency, burning, frequency, and then a few hours later they will subside...I finally went to the doctor yesterday (i saw one of my doctors partners not my doc) and they tested my urine and when the nurse came in before the doc she said I had Ketones in my urine which she said was causing the pain...but then the doctor came in and said that wasnt the case...that he was worried about my eating patterns and pretty much called me anorexic...what is funny is my whole life I have been over weight and never had any one tell me that...but anways...is anyone else having these symptoms...I was hoping I am not the only one because it is starting to freak me out...I dont get it...help please!

  • I get UTI like symptoms if I am dehydrated.... Water can and will flush out a UTI if you drink enough, if you have one. It's possible maybe you have a one that never FULLY goes away, or maybe you just need to drink more water/cran juice.

  • I haven't really had this problem while pregnant but I would have UTI symptoms that would come and go for a week or so before. Usually I think it's a UTI that's trying to develope and I get it most of the way flushed out and then it tries to come back. I would listen to your doc about your eating habits just because that's important but try drinking tons of water and cranberry juice for a day or two and see if that helps. Works for me pretty much every time. Oh and hold out as long as possible before you pee because the frequent urination makes it worse.

  • Try taking a cranberry suppliment.  My midwife recommends it to keep a UTI away or stop an early one.

I agree with all of that but the last part: Don't hold your pee. My doctor's and midwives have always told me NOT to hold your bladder. It gives the UTI bacteria time to grow and multiply. If you are drinking a ton of water, it should help with the frequent urination feeling hurting, but you still need to pee alot to flush it out. And keep drinking water  a couple days after you don't feel anything anymore to make sure it's gone.
