Ok Ladies:

I've been stalking Craig's List for used baby items we could get on the cheap :)

I found the most adorable Fisher Price Rainforest Swing and Bouncer set. They originally wanted $80, but they are willing to accept $50. It comes from a smoke free/pet free home.

Here's my dilemma... should I really purchase these 2 items now? Am I ruining what people could be getting us for shower gifts?

I just hate to pass up on this great deal. New they retail for around $150!

Thoughts and opinions welcome please!

    I am all for getting things at a discount. I got my swing, pack n play, and a few other items like diaper genie, Boppie, books, etc at consignment sales and I got both our changing table and stroller new in the boxes off Craigslist. I have plenty of things on my registry still, both big and small ticket items. I don't see anything wrong with picking up things if they are killer deals especially because I know we'll still have plenty to buy after our shower. Have fun!

    I say go for it!! This way you can add other items to your registry as you'll already have these.

    I can never pass up a deal either. :)

    I'd go for it. I think there will still be plenty more to get at your shower.

    I would get them.  We got the rainforest swing, bathtub, bouncer, crib toy, play gym, and jumperoo for $100 at a friend's garage sale.  I don't care that I'm taking stuff on my registry because it just means people will buy other stuff or give gift cards.  So many shower gifts are cute little outfits, so I wouldn't worry about that until after the shower.  You're going to get stuck buying it if someone doesn't buy it for you, so if you can get a good deal, I'd go for it. You'll kick yourself later if no one buys it for you.

    At my shower, guests didn't get me many things off of my registry. Like previous posters said there are plenty of items big and small that you will need for the baby. I don't think getting a few good deals are going to ruin what people can get you. I say go for it!

    Def go for it. Before my shower I had 2 bouncers and a swing that I got used from a friend and there were still tons of items on my registry, big and small. Plus like pp said a lot of people dont go off of ur registry. I had no clothes on my registry but yet I got tons which I did return just about all the clothes and blankets as I already had a ton.

    I say go for it too. Within our group of friends/family the bigger purchases are made by the parents to be anyways. : )

    I bought the swing I had always wanted and got some flack for it, but there are still plenty of other things to be bought!  And not everyone will shop off the registries anyway.  Definitely go ahead and get it if you find a great deal.  :)
