Help Please: stuffy nose remedies

I am sitting here holding LO (12wks) on the couch while she sleeps. She has her first cold/fever. Any suggestions for her stuffy/congested/runny nose would be GREATLY appreciated! She's miserable!!

Re: Help Please: stuffy nose remedies

  • I use the nosefrida also known as the snotsucker. It gets out snot I can't even see !

I also use California  Baby Cold and flu message oil works like "vicks" but is not that harsh

    Hope she gets better soon

this.  And I found the saline spray works better to get the gunk out. Sorry - it stinks...  just give it time! :(

  • Lots of nose bulb suctioning. LO has been stuffy this week and while he protests the nose suctioning he sleeps better.

I just took my baby to ER room this morning and he has an ear infection in his left ear....good to know my baby isn't the only one who has gotten one at 3 months...He is normally such a mellow go-with-the-flow baby and today he's been crying and sleeping on and off...

  • We are in the same boat! We've been using a cool mist humidifier, baby rub (pretty much Vick's), Johnson's vapor bath, saline drops and the dreaded booger sucker. My pedi recommend keeping her upright and not flat on her back as much as possible. The only way she's slept at night with this going on is on her tummy. DD has excellent head control, so I'm ok with this if it means she gets some much needed sleep. GL...I know it's not fun!

  • I was glad you posted this because LO ended up being very stuffy yesterday too.  I had purchased some saline spray (mist, really) at BRU that I tried very hesitantly, and it worked immediately!  I expected him to hate it, but he didn't even notice.  I just sprayed it up his nose a little, and it came out the other side (it's supposed to).  Then he proceeded to sneeze a few times, and snot blew everywhere, but, it wasn't in his nose anymore! :)  I only had to use it once.
