How long did you wait/have before your second pregnancy? My doctor yelled at me for wanting to start trying next July. I will be 14+ months pp. Is that too soon?
VBAC is safest when you have an interbirth interval of at least 18 months. So if you start TTC when your child is 14 months, you'd certainly meet that criteria. It seems weird that your doctor thought that was too soon--how long does she think you should wait?

I don't think so. In fact, I had my annual yesterday and my OB said she hopes to see me before my next annual (ie: for prenatal care) and asked when #2 was coming (DS is 13 months old). She knows I want to VBAC too.
I got pregnant when my son was 16 months - babies will be born 25 months apart.
Ditto pp about the 18-24 month birth interval being safest, but to be honest, it seems like this particular doc may not be all that supportive of VBAC in general and is using the birth interval to discourage you from trying? Did s/he really yell at you?
I think 14 months pp sounds like a very reasonable time to ttc.

GL!
He is not supportive of a VBAC, thats why I will need to switch doctors. He told me I shouldn't even be thinking about another baby yet, 'I'm too young'. I will be 21 in a few weeks, I am not 16. And I asked about doing Implanon for a year (I fail at taking pills) he asked me why. Thats when I said I want TTC next July-August again. He actually yelled at me, my best friend heard him in the waiting room, saying I will put myself and the next baby at risk if I get pregnant so soon. Ugh.
I have always hated this doctor, but it was in the hospital I loved.
I will be switching to a VBAC friendly hospital for the next one. Starting all research for it.

What a d!ck. Definitely find someone new, VBAC or not.

Holy crapola! I'd be filing a complaint against that guy. Not only was he out of line but is that not a HIPAA violation if he is yelling at you so loudly that complete strangers in the waiting room can hear you? Some women have two under one. Not something I would do, but it is their choice, is it not?
This is something I asked my OB before I even left the hospital. She said that if I want a rcs, I can TTC in 1 year. She said that if I want a VBAC, I can TTC in 2 years. Like you, I did the research and the interdelivery intervals of 18 months (or at most 24 months) seems to be what the studies recommend. So that means waiting to conceive until DD is either 9months (or at most 15months). We will see, and I will bring the studies to my OB and hope that she will support a VBAC under the circumstances.
My previous OB said that recommendations are 18 months between births, but he knew of women who successfully VBACed closer together than that. Glad to hear you will be finding a new provider. He sucks!

My ob said I could start TTC at my 5 week pp visit, and said vbac would be his recommendation in my case.
But we are waiting until DD is about 7 months to start.
#1 and #2 are 18 months apart (both csections). #2 and #3 will be 18 months apart again and I have been given the green light for a VBA2C.

My boys are just shy of 18 months apart
