WWYD?

I'm going back to college! YAY.. well I am only taking 2 classes and they re hybrid classes, so I'll only be gone for 2 hours 2 times a week!  Orientation is this friday from 12-5.  I had at first thought it was kinda an open house sorta thing and they are serving a lunch (sandwitches I think)  So I e-mailed them saying I was going to bring DS.  They pretty much e-mailed back saying kids aren't normally invited and I'd be able to be more involved without my son there, since we will be walking and doing a scavenger hunt (really??  are we 10?)  Well I'm not ok leaving my son for 5 hours so I can go play dumb games w/ 18 year olds..

So should I go, and just bring DS anyway (I was planning on wearing him most the time anyway) Or should I just not go.. All I was planning on doing was the tour and get the free crap..lol.  FYI, I've already enrolled in my classes and don't need to test or anything else.

Eh, I say go and wear him.

  • I'd say go and wear him and then if you need/want to leave, do so.

Sometimes having LO with you is the perfect excuse to leave.

5 hours of "orientation" sounds like torture to me.

  • I probably wouldn't go. Instead I would call and set up a private tour through the admissions office.

I'd go without your son. If they say it's not for kids, it's not for kids. They don't belong everywhere.

If it's not necessary, skip it, but I wouldn't bring your kid.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Agreed and honestly I think you should go.  Stuff like this can sound dumb but it's a great way to get a feel for the campus, the teachers, and the other students.
