Tomorrow (Thurs) we go for allergy testing for my 22month old. Poor kid. I bought her some new toys to serve as distraction, and, well because I feel so horrible for her, that she has to go through all this (scratch tests, bloodwork). And that she has a life of having to worry about foods and epi-pens... I'll update when we get the test results.
We went to a state park on Saturday and spent the day with my FIL and his girlfriend. The GF went all out and bought all kinds of party decorations and bought a TON of food and supplies. I really appreciate the effort but it is so strange, like we barely see FIL, and he has blown us off when we invite him over for his bday, but then we spend all this time with him. (Last year we invited him and his GF over, and he showed up without her, he had like literally 1 bite of cake and didn't stay long, and we threw most of a $50 cake in the trash).
I posted last week about the GF offering that the kids could call her grandma. I never 'addressed' it with her and then she was holding DD (my 22mo) and DD kissed her, so her 'story of the night' was how DD "kissed Grammy". It was just a little odd considering I've spent like an hour with her. I understand she's known my FIL for quite some time, but it is a little overwhelming to instantly assign her as "grammy". She's very nice, I'm glad I like her, but such sudden changes take some adjustment.
Re: some updates, and fingers crossed
Good luck with the testing. I hope you get some information quickly.
The situation with FIL's GF is weird, I'm sure, but I guess if it's one more person that cares for and takes real interest in your DDs, then that can't be all bad?
