Your hemorroid relief please

I had hemorroids during pregnancy that were bearable. Now after giving birth they have flared up bad. I am trying to do Sitz baths and stay hydrated and use prep. H gel. Any other recommendations or ideas? Do they usually get worse before they get better?

    The hospital gave us witch hazel pads.  They work great.  You could probably make your own by soaking cotton make-up pads in witch hazel.  They had me refrigerate the package so there was cold relief when I put them on.  They've worked wonders.

    Tucks Pads!!! Also, like PP said, witch hazel pads. You can buy a large bottle of witch hazel at walmart/target/pharmacy and some cotton pads. Just squirt it liberally on them. They do feel really great frozen too.

    I had the worst hemorroids and I had a fissure. I was taking every softner I could find, Sitz baths 3 times a day, drinking water, and anything else you can think of. My mom told me to put a whole cup of all bran buds, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, and a cup of water in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. (I added a tablesppon of peanut butter, milk and I put bananas in it too.) I had that 2 times a day and within 2 days I was feeling so much better. I kept up eatting it for probably 2 weeks and I was normal again. Thank godness! My mom told me to start eatting that when I first started having problems right after birth and thought she was crazy but with my next child I plan to only eat that. Good Luck!
