Looking for Pediatrician recommendation in Raleigh

After days of research and lots of careful consideration, DH and I want to do the alternate vaccination schedule found in Dr. Sear's Vaccination book.

We live in N. Raleigh and don't mind having to drive 15-20 minutes to get what we want...we are right between 440 and 540 so either is easy access for us.

Can any of you recommend your pediatrician?

Re: Looking for Pediatrician recommendation in Raleigh

  • I'm not sure of their stance on the alternate vaccination schedule, but we go to Carolina Kids Pediatrics on Blue Ridge Rd across from Rex.  I went there growing up and take my daughter there now.  They are very friendly and always helpful.  I would recommend calling them and asking and see about going to one of their new patient / doctor meet and greets.  Their # is 881-9009.  Good luck!

  • awesome thanks. i will at least call them and see. If I'm not mistaken they have a location in Wake Forest also (I think that's where I went as a kid).

  • We go to Carolina Kids and I'm 99% sure they want you to follow whatever the current recommendations are from the APA.

My friend did her vaccinations on an alternate schedule and I believe it was Sunshine Pediatrics.  Good luck!

  • I go to Jeffers Mann and Artman in Wake Forest (up the rd a bit from the Walmart on S.Main St. near the Factory). We really love them and they do not make you follow the vaccine schedule. Of course they suggest it, buy they do not stop you, or pressure you.

I have not followed it. We have broken the vaccines up, including delaying the MMR and Chicken Pox Vac. I just had baby #2 and delayed the Hep shot at the hospital and they had no issue with it. We see Dr. Loibissio, and he has not said anything to me about my choice (other than asking why I made the decision). I plan to do the same with baby #2 as well and am comfortable going there and discussing it with them.

  • awesome! thank you ladies. I will look them up. I've done all of my research and have made my decision. Now it's just a matter of finding someone to work with me. With the new bridge going up on Falls going directly into wakefield (hopefully it'll be done really soon) S. Main street will be so much closer than the 20 minute drive it is now. I can't wait.

We go to North Raleigh Pediatrics off of Creedmore.  Seen every dr. over the past 10 months and they are great.

They have several locations, including one on Blue Ridge Rd. by Rex, just off 440.

  • Jeffers Mann is awesome and htey are also willing to let the parent decide the vaccination schedule. I had a great conversation with the doctor about it, and while they officially recommend anything the AMA recommends, they are willing to adapt based on a parent's wishes. I felt no pressure to go either way when I spoke with them.

  • The girls also go to Jeffers in WF and we've been very happy with them.

I can tell you Raleigh Peds does not let you waiver from the APA recommended schedule.
