Baby's weight at gender ultrasound!

I was just wondering what everyone's baby's were estimated weighing in at when they had their 20 week or gender ultrasound!  My tech said that average for 20 weeks is about 10 oz but we are weighing in at 13 oz.   And for those moms with more than this pregnancy- did the size at this time mean anything as far as your babies weight when they were born?

Re: Baby's weight at gender ultrasound!

  • Baby #2 was 9.1 oz at our anatomy scan at 19w3d. I don't think you can guestimate birth weight based on that since the baby may slow down (or speed up) their weight gain from now on.

With DD1, if I would've went by what she weighed at the anatomy scan and the average weekly weight gain from then until birth, she would've been near 10 lbs, but she came out 7 lbs 8 oz.

  • I had been told that 12 or 13 oz was the norm for 20 weeks. My LO weighed at 15 oz at 21 weeks, but I'm a FTM so I don't know if that says anything about later on or not.
  • I just had mine today and it weighed about 12 oz.  I honestly can't remember what ds weighed at his, but I think it was fairly normal and he ended up being born 3 days after my due date at 8lb15oz.

  • My little munchkin weighed about 12oz at 20 weeks exactly, and that was on monday. so i think 12-13 is about normal. I don't remember what DD#1 or DS was at that time when I had my ultrasounds.

  • Okay, thanks! I had no idea since i don't get to talk to my doctor about it all until next week lol. I have people telling me that this means they will be a big baby and i got confused!

  • LO was weighing in at 13 ounces at the 20 week anatomy scan, which is considered average. It doesn't mean anything as far as size of the baby. The baby's weight can change week to week and the baby's weight at 20 weeks does not depict how much the baby might way when he or she is born.

  • I had my scan at 17w5d and he weighed 8 ounces! I'm pretty sure he was within normal range at that point. :) I had an ultrasound today and I'm sad I wasn't told an approximate weight. I have a feeling he's going to be a lightweight baby.

  • I had my a/s at 20w2d. However, little man was measuring 20w5d and weighed in at 13 oz. Which I thought was a little big compared to everything I've read, but my doc said that it was normal.

  • At my 20 week she was 14oz. My midwife said she was in the 66%, which was great. My Sister is an OBGYN, and when I told her, she said "That's perfect". I'd go by what midwifes & doctors say...not the website.

  • I had mine at 18w 1d and our little one weighed 9oz. I believe this was "normal".

  • On Tuesday at 19w6d I was told baby was 11oz.  I heard anything between 9-13oz is normal for this stage.  Ultrasounds can be off too, I was told with DS#2 he was going to be 10lbs at my 36w ultrasound so they took the baby a week early and he was 7lbs10oz.

I'm glad OP started this post, because I had been wondering about this, as well. All of my resources say that the baby should be about 10 oz. at 20 weeks, and LO was measured at 12 oz. on Tuesday. Looks like that's pretty normal, though.

  • Our baby weighed 12 oz. when I was 19 weeks 1 day.  The dr. said that is right where I should be right now.  I would say as long as your Dr. says the weight is OK, then it's fine! :)

  • At my 20 week ultrasound, the baby is already weighing in at one pound.  She is going to be a little chunkster I think.
