Arthritis

28 is too young to have arthritis, right? Wink

Just in case, anyone here have arthritis?

How did you know?

How was it diagnosed?

What helps it?

I have been having a lot of pain in my fingers.  Like a few weeks ago I picked up a watermelon, no issues, carried it from the store to my car.  Last week I hurt badly trying to pick up a new watermelon, stuck it in my cart and then had to roll it out in the cart to my car and it hurt to lift :(  Fingers only so I am pretty sure it is not carpal tunnel since that would be wrist.

I mean it could just be overexertion maybe? because a certain 2 yo is quite heavy and still has to be picked up regularly.

My sweet boy :)

Re: Arthritis

  • I have arthritis in my right hip and have since about 8th grade. I had undiagnosed hip displaysia when I was born, and had to be in a spica cast for a few months when I was 2. They told me I'd probably have arthritis young in that hip, and they were right! In late middle school it would start hurting a lot if I was unusually active, or if it was really rainy.

I just try to take Advil before, during and after if I'm going to be on my feet all day walking a lot. And I use Advil when it rains too. It doesn't make the pain completely go away, but it's enough so that I can walk without hobbling like an old lady!

  • Could it be carpal tunnel? That sounds a lot like the awful CTS I had at the end of my pregnancy. It will still flare up occasionally, but hasn't been as bad since then. I would wake up each morning completely unable to make a fist, or bend my fingers at all, really. It was awful. All I could do was soak my hands in ice water and take Tylenol (which is useless for pain for me, but of course, all you can take while pg!) But check into that--especially if you are on the computer a lot at work, etc.
