a trip out of the house - success!

I know a lot of you have been doing this for weeks (months?) now, but I had a pretty rough recovery and it took me a few weeks to even be able to walk around the house, let alone want to leave it.  Then, once I was able to move around it seems like our little guy decided he wanted to cry whenever he was awake, so leaving the house with him at all (nevermind doing it alone!) was a daunting task that we would rather have avoided.  But now my diet has been modified and we have a happy baby again... that is, until the batteries on his swing died and he stopped his daytime naps!  Of course, my husband is out of town this week, too, so if I wanted new batteries for his swing I would have to suck it up and go get them myself.

The batteries died on Monday morning and he barely napped on Monday.  Yesterday I got him to nap by laying down with him, but I couldn't move once he fell asleep otherwise he'd wake up again.  Today I decided he needed his naps and we'd have to brave the world.  Publix isn't too far from our house, so I plopped him in his stroller (first time using it!) and we started walking in this God awful heat (89*, feels like 99*).  He loved it!  He just laid there and looked around as everything passed him by.  If I knew it would be that easy, I would've done it days ago!

So, we got him his batteries and some Tide powder detergent for the cloth diapers that will be arriving today!  Now he's swinging in his swing and I'm about to make lunch without a baby screaming at me.

It's the small triumphs...

  • Yes

I know the feeling.  DD was pretty fussy from weeks 3-6 due to an oversupply issue Tongue Tied but now that I've gotten that under control she's been much, much happier and more content, and therefore easier to tote along.  So I totally understand how awesome it feels to not be trapped in the house!

  • good job mama!!!!! welcome back to the world!!!!! it can be so nerve wracking to leave the house...i always have 10 million bottles with me, 5 pacis, a whole mess of diapers.  I'm so paranoid that she's just going to have a big meltdown all the time lol

I am so glad you got the oversupply issue resolved! And I can totally relate to the feeling of accomplishment. I survived my frost solo trip with LO to the grocery store and felt quite successful!
