Formula help...

When DD was born we struggled to find a formula which did cause bad constipation. Finally we found Enfamil Newborn was great for her in the constipation dept. 10 weeks later her Fussiness and Gas seemed to be getting worse as time went on. I switched to Enfamil Gentleease which is working GREAT for the fussiness and gas but she is constipated again!! My pedi suggested 1 teaspoon of Karo in a bottle a day but I have seen no help from that. Any suggestions?? Would a generic version maybe help?

Re: Formula help...

  • don't go to generic! we switched DD from similac sensitive to target sensitive and ended up at the pedi's office so that the dr. could manually get the poop out of her :-( the dr. said to switch her to regular similac or enfamil (no sensitive, no generic) and give her some time on it.  She is on Enfamil Infant (in the yellow tub) and is doing great.  no constipation, a little gassy (but she gets it out, her belly is never bloated) but happy.

  • The Enfamil Gentlease made DS extremely constipated.  Have you tried Similac Sensitive?  We had no problems with Similac, but the Enfamil Gentlease just seems to constipate my kids.  You can try a generic version, but they are fairly similar.  I do notice a slight difference in generics, as my DD did great on Similac Sensitive, but on Walmart's generic version she is awesome and she poops even better.  So, just because it is generic does not mean it will constipate your baby.  Also, make sure you are not packing the formula into the scoop, for this can constipate them.
