Lucas Michael arrived!

After a stellar pregnancy with no issues and just minor gripes from me...my baby surprised us and came exactly 2 weeks before due date. I wasn't feeling the greatest that evening, and had just decided to get into bed and turn on a disturbing episode of "Extreme Hoarding" when I felt a pop and a gush. My water broke! I went to the bathroom and there was no question that I had ruptured. I took a deep breath and came halfway down the stairs to tell hubby "my water just broke". He took the route of "are you sure???" and asked that a couple times. I'm like "yes!". We packed a bag and he called MIL - who proceeded to tell him that we would probably be sent back home. Huh? I told hubby - you listen to me....we are having a baby in the next 24 hours so you help me pack! Your momma had 3 kids but obviously she has no clue!!! LOL!

We got there about 11:30 pm (water broke 10:30) and I only had minor contractions. We took the strip test to see if in fact my water broke and in fact yes it did. Hubby said "what does that mean?", I was like "you remember class...water broke means baby coming!".

I had contractions all night until 9 AM, but got only from 1 cm to 3 cm dilated. They said we needed pitocin. I said ok, but need epi...so I got the epi. Heaven sent let me tell you! I do not regret that decision at all.

I only pushed for 1.5 hours and he was born at 12:37 pm on 7/12/2011. He weighed 6 lbs, 4 oz...so little but perfect and healthy. I probably won't be on here much...as I am just learning to be a mom and trying to keep up with dogs, cat and my own self too! I will check in....am breastfeeding and am doing "okay" with it but pump and feed from a bottle a lot too (he was jaundice and we had to supplement in hospital). I was able to have vaginal birth with only a few stitches. I am so proud and we love him so much. Check out his pics...
