Is your baby reaching for things?

According to the 3 month milestones K should be reaching for things. I know I should use her adjusted age, but I want her to catch up! (she has reached all her adjusted age goals on time)

She is very interested in her hands! She holds them together all the time and is just starting to get them into her mouth. But she still doesn't reach for things.

So what is your LO doing?

Thanks Ladies?

Re: Is your baby reaching for things?

  • C is not reaching for things yet. She puts her hands in her mouth and holds them together though. She honestly doesn't seem interested in the toys we dangle in front of her.

  • My LO hasn't realized he has hands yet, much less started reaching for things :)

  • DD gets her hands to her mouth but I haven't seen her hold them together yet.

She also bats at the toys hanging from her playmat and bar on her bouncer, which I was really very surprised at!  She's been doing that for about 3 weeks now which I think is pretty early/young.  She also smiled and coo'ed very early, too.

Edited to add:  not reaching for things yet, save those hanging in front of her face which she just will bat at.

  • She just started reaching for things.

Try not to compare your DD to other kids.  It will make you crazy.

  • V isn't, but she's not even 8 weeks old yet.  Her latest "accomplishment" is attempting to shove her whole hand in her mouth and smacking on it.  Oh, yeah, and sucking on her tongue.

Same.  He does suck on them a lot, but I think that might be more "Oh hey, these flailing things somehow found themselves near my mouth!  Sweet!" rather than intentionally sticking them in his mouth.

  • Ben clasps his hands together sometimes, but he's way more interested in getting them in his mouth.  He's also become really excited about his play mat over the last week or so.  He furrows his brow and concentrates to hard to hit and kick his little animals.  As far as reaching for things not in front of his face- not yet.

  • Yes. She loves her hands. Eliza is so cute with her dangling toys. The other day while I was at Joanns she grabbed onto the foot of her bird that I attached to the carseat and held on throughout the store. All the way through cutting the fabric, checking out and walking to the car. It vibrates when you pull on it so she just holds on.

DH said yesterday that he made her hold onto her bottle and she held it in place until it was empty.

She's not doing any of the big things like rolling yet though. So I'm anxious for those things to start.

  • M has started trying to reach for my fingers when they are in front of her face.  I usually will help her pull herself into a sitting position and she thinks its a game.  I have finally figured out why there is such thing as a mom hair cut now that she has started grabbing things, and once she grabs on it sucks to have to pry it out of her hands.

  • She grabs onto things but she isn't reaching for toys yet. She actually doesn't seem too interested in toys at all - she finds my hair and necklace much more fascinating.

  • Silas just 'found' his hands a few weeks ago. He loves to put his fist in his mouth.
He can hold onto things and toys if I put them in his hands, but he doesn't reach for them on his own yet.
I think it'll be a big deal to me when he can!

  • Not yet.  My daughter didn't until 3.5 months or so.

M reaches for things and can sometimes successfully grab them if they aren't moving too much.   He even managed to get my hoodie strings the other day.  He can 100% of the time get his hands to his mouth.

He is currently obsessed with his feet and tries to suck his toes all the time.  But he hasn't realized he can bring his feet to his mouth so he tries to bring his mouth to his feet.  Which is hilarious because he bends completely in half to do it.

  • Zoe just started doing this yesterday.  She reached out and grabbed the rings hanging on her bouncer and put the bottom one in her mouth.  It was so cool to watch her learn a new thing!

  • i put a dangling lion toy on his car seat and he'll hit it and grab it. Also while on his playmat he likes to grab the rings and hold them and likes to hit the bottom of a giraffe so it will rattle
