2nd Trimester

Got my preregistry back from the hospital

It gave me my estimate which has to be paid before I deliver. Not a problem at all except the estimated "treatment" date is wrong! Im due December 6 and if I dont go into labor until January 6 I will be one unhappy pregnant camper!!! I tried to call and fix it but the lady who answers is the financial lady to work out payments and as NO IDEA who to forward me to so I can fix the date. AWESOME! I love this hospital... Not a fan of their office employees! I also compared to price with my step moms last delivery (little brother is 2) and the price has gone up almost 2000 bucks! In Fort Worth Texas it costs $5,710.74 for a vaginal delivery without complications. My mom didnt even pay that much for her C-section! Oh how the world is changing!

  • Yes, the amount of money it costs to have a baby here is so high that it makes many people I know question if they want a child.

Good luck, hopefully you get someone soon on the phone.

Side Note, you have a lot of tickers....do you really need that many?

  • Shockingly on the tickers I put the name one up and the anniversary one and one pregnancy one. total 3 tickers and a picture. My DH got a little ticker happy when he was looking through them all. I just left them alone. Didnt want to hurt his feelings by deleting them (more emotional than I am these days)

  • Is that your cost because you have no insurance, or is that the cost with insurance applied (and I need to call my hospital)???

  • Is this with pain meds? ... And what would they do if you didn't pay it all in advance; it's not like they could turn you away (just wondering)?

  • Thats the cost before insurance. I should have been more clear on that. My pay after insurance is only 856. If your hospital has a preregistration program I would go for it. It will make it easier and ALOT less paper work when your actually in labor! My doctor wanted me to do it. In that office they say to do it before 28 weeks so she was really on my case about getting it done. If I have any complications or need anything else on that, the bill will get sent to me after delivery and after insurance.

  • Thats without an epidural. I can get other medicines. Well it covers the epidural too just not the doctor who gives it. I would have to pay whatever his fee is. Im not sure what they would do if you didnt pay. Make your stay difficult? Or just add interest to the bill you get after delivery. No clue!

I do have a preregistration form I started filling out.  I'm going to revisit that very soon!  Thanks!

  • I got a preregister paper in a booklet from my OB to send back to the hospital. I haven't gotten anything back from them regarding payments and I'm in North Texas as well. I have a tour of my hospital on the 30th so I might stop in and ask then.

  • I was able to do my pre-registery online.  Although I never got the conformation email like they said would be sent within 24 hours.

My OB has already requested that I pay them my $3 deductible up from before 34 weeks, so if the hospital asks for the same I am not going to be a happy camper.

  • I had a couple stitches put in my cervix and my bill was $9600!!! And that's not for the anesthesia or dr! I hope my delivery is this cheap.  And as much as I hate my rude insurance company thank goodness I have some now!  With ins. I only have to pay $475 for that surgery.

I haven't gotten anything about pre-registering. I figured we'd get that at our childbirth class but I don't guess I'll get to go now that I'm on bedrest.  With my risk of delivering early I guess I better get this done.  I'm glad you reminded me!

  • My hospital had me pre-register and all I had to do was sign a few papers. Am I missing something?
