Mirena- not bad

So I got my Mirena "installed" (as DH says) yesterday and it was a breeze.  I was freaking out and I had to wait forever b/c the nurse couldn't find the insurance pre-approval paper, but once they got all that together it took maybe 10 minutes.  There was a tiny bit of spotting, but nothing bad at all. It was uncomfortable, but not painful at all.

I feel like I've read mostly scary horror stories lately, so I wanted to share a not-so-bad one!

Re: Mirena- not bad

  • Thanks for sharing this. I'm getting mine on Friday and was feeling a little anxious about it. Now I can honestly say I'm feeling a little more relaxed about the whole thing!

  • I got my paraguard today and it was a breeze. I was so worried I took some pain killers before hand, but really it was nothing, felt as uncomfortable as a pap

  • I got my Mirena inserted today too. Felt like a pap, I have had no cramping and very little spotting. I too was prepared for the worst because of the bad experiences others posted.

  • I got Mirena inserted yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. As the PP said, it felt like a pap. I had moderate bleeding yesterday after and today just a tiny bit of spotting and a very VERY light cramping every once and a while. So far so good. I was terrified too but I sucked it up and did it and don't regret it (yet)

  • I'm jealous of you all. I guess since I had an easy breezy delivery I had to be punished with a painful IUD "installation"

  • Thank you and all other posters! This makes me far less nervous to have mine "installed" I realize everyone can have different reactions, but all I have read so far have been the horror stories! Thanks again!
